| Nearby Attractions: |
This hidden treasure, situated on the highway half way between Katherine and Darwin is surrounded by natural wonders. See thousands of butterflies in the gorges at Hayes Creek, or take a relaxing swim in the Douglas Hot Springs. Heritage sites from the Second World War and gold mines are all close by.
This is gold country, part of the Northern Goldfield Loop. The area is rich in history and heritage sites are dotted around the district. The caravan park itself was an old army farm rich in the history of mining, the railway and Chinese endeavours.
Trees entwine their foliage over the shallow sandy based waters making a lovely spot for a dip, or to just sit in the shade. You might catch a bream, try your hand at gold panning, or cross the spring and explore the hills. Local tours are available capturing the history and adventure of the region. |
| Special Activities: |
Nestled in a Valley next to a natural spring and creek, Hayes Creek offers opportunities for birdwatching, rock climbing, bush walking, visiting the Butterfly Gorges, or simply swimming in the natural spring.
The Holiday Park also has a shady saltwater swimming pool and opportunities for barra fishing in the nearby Daly River or gold panning and fishing in the local Hayes Creek. |
| Facilities: |
Hayes Creek site flexibility offers powered and unpowered sites for tents, camper trailers, caravans and motorhomes. The newly renovated amenities (with enormous showers!) are complemented by the cool and relaxing waters of our swimming pool. Sheltered BBQs are available with seating and limited playground equipment is also available.
The park has an Inn which offers Alfresco dining (the best Barra and chips!), ice cold beer, take-away snacks, cold drinks, ice-creams, souvenirs, confectionery, ice, basic groceries, fuel, LPG auto and bottled gas, newspapers, and is a registered Australia Post agent. |
